Our Initiative
Mero Digital Desh
Leaving one’s home country to work abroad and support family in Nepal is a journey filled with sacrifice. Every bit of hard-earned money sent back holds immense value. Unfortunately, many people are still victims of remittance-related scams due to a lack of awareness.
Understanding this need, we have started the “Mero Digital Desh” (MDD) initiative with the motive to promote the use of formal remittance channels, ensuring that money reaches its destination safely without any hassles.
Our Journey
Mero Digital Desh initiative was started on September 23rd, 2022, to promote the use of formal and digital channels for sending money back to Nepal. At the beginning of our journey, our campaign theme was “Aba Bancha Mero Digital Desh” emphasizing the transformation of remittance with a digital essence.
To encourage the use of formal and digital methods for sending money, we began rewarding those who transfer money directly to the beneficiary’s eSewa wallet or bank account.
In Phase I of the campaign, as a reward for sending money digitally, we provided monthly surprises and a brand-new home in Kathmandu as the grand prize. Phase I spanned 10 months, from September 23, 2022, to June 15, 2023, during which we traveled to various parts of Nepal to surprise the families of the monthly winners.
Mr. Purna Bahadur Shrestha, who had been living in the UAE for the past eight years and working as a driver, won the grand prize of a brand-new home in Kathmandu.
Monthly Winners
With the enthusiastic participation of our customers in Phase I, we have continued our journey to digitalize the country. Phase II was announced on September 18, 2024, and this time, we are moving forward with the tagline "Bandaicha Mero Digital Desh," which translates to "My country is becoming digital." This showcases how people are increasingly choosing digital methods to send remittances.
As in Phase I, we have once again decided to reward a brand-new home in Kathmandu as the grand prize. Additionally, monthly prizes (double the amount of money sent) and special surprises to four families during the campaign period. We have also traveled to various parts of Nepal to surprise the winner's families.
